Shere Delight
One of the most beautiful walks we’ve had recently was through the forests near the village of Shere, which is east of Guildford in Surrey. This is storybook territory and, in fact, we ventured round the Silent Pool. Legend has it that a woodcutter’s daughter was surprised while bathing by a nobleman on horseback. In fear she moved into deeper water and drowned. The nobleman’s hat was later found floating on the surface of the water.
While in Shere, my camera Canon lens packed up so for the rest of our adventure I had only my Samsung Galaxy to capture the scenery.
